Dragon Ball Super Quiz

Dragon Ball Super is the sequel to Dragon Ball Z, which, like all previous Dragon Balls, is produced by Toei Animation. I think almost no one had expected another Dragon Ball back then. Out of nowhere, we fans were surprised by it. Even though I’m not a huge fan of Dragon Ball Super in hindsight, I still found it entertaining and looked forward to a new episode every week.

It’s been five years since the last episode of Dragon Ball Super aired. Even though the anime has been halted or ended, we still have the manga. Which, by the way, was released about a month before the anime. Even though the manga clearly differs from the anime in some of its stories, we, as fans, still have something to look forward to.

A second season of Dragon Ball Super will be supposedly released within the year. At least if you believe the “leaks.” You can read more about it here.

Since I just recently made an Ultimate Dragon Ball Quiz, I figured why not make one just for DB Super. It’s a good mix of easy and hard questions, I think. The Ultimate DB Quiz has 50 questions, but for the Dragon Ball Super Quiz, I figured 20 is enough. Also, the questions are ONLY about the anime and not manga. Since as mentioned above, it differs from the anime in some parts of the story. So, find out how much you still know about Dragon Ball Super after five years and if it’s time to rewatch the anime 😉.

Transformations in Dragon Ball Super

In Dragon Ball Super, many new powerful characters appeared, such as Gods of Destruction, Angels, and the Omni-King, among others. Of course, with new powerful characters also come new powerful transformations. These are exactly the ones I’m going to introduce to you now. I’ve also added the transformations from the manga, but as I mentioned before, there won’t be any questions about the manga in the Dragon Ball Super Quiz.

Super Saiyan God

Super Saiyan God is the first new transformation we see in Dragon Ball Super. This represents a fundamental change in the powers and appearance of a Saiyan. The form is important since it marks the beginning of a new era in the Dragon Ball saga.

To achieve Super Saiyan God, five pure-hearted Saiyajins must fuse their energy. Goku, the driving force behind this idea, manages to mobilize the required energy and transform into Super Saiyan God. He receives an enormous power boost in this form and faces Beerus in an epic battle.

The appearance of Super Saiyan God differs from the previous Super Saiyajin forms. Goku gets red hair, and a special aura surrounds his eyes. Although the transformation is visually not as spectacular as the Super Saiyan’s familiar golden hair, you shouldn’t underestimate the power of Super Saiyan God.

Super Saiyan God is characterized by extraordinary speed, strength, and the ability to control ki. This form allows Goku to take his fighting abilities to a new level and temporarily stand up to Beerus. Although Goku can ultimately not beat Beerus, this transformation sets the stage for further developments and the introduction of other powerful forms.

Super Saiyan God significantly impacts the plot of Dragon Ball Super. The revelation of this transformation opened up a whole new world of possibilities and brought the Saiyans closer to the cosmic powers of the Dragon Ball universe. It was a turning point that significantly increased the power scale in the series and gave us fans breathtaking battles.

Super Saiyan Blue, also reffered to as Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan, or just SSGSS

Super Saiyan Blue - Dragon Ball Super Quiz

Super Saiyan Blue is one of the most powerful transformations in Dragon Ball Super. This unique form of the Saiyans combines the divine power of the Super Saiyan God with the Super Saiyan transformation.

The creation of Super Saiyan Blue is closely related to the plot of the movie “Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F.'” In this movie, Frieza returns and faces Goku and his friends again. To stand against Frieza’s incredible power, Goku and Vegeta take special training to increase their powers further. If you have yet to see the movie, I highly recommend it!

Super Saiyan Blue characteristics have remarkable stability, unlike the previous Super Saiyan form, which caused a huge energy consumption. By combining the divine energy of the Super Saiyajin God with the Super Saiyajin form, Goku and Vegeta can maintain Super Saiyan Blue’s power for longer.

Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken

Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken is a fascinating and extremely powerful technique that combines the two transformations, Super Saiyan Blue and Kaioken. This unique combination allows Goku to increase his powers almost unprecedentedly.

The Kaioken technique was first introduced in the original Dragon Ball series (who doesn’t remember how Goku knocked out Nappa with it😉). It is a technique in which the user increases his fighting power and speed by concentrating and controlling his ki energy.

After Goku achieved the Super Saiyan Blue transformation in Dragon Ball Super, he took on an incredible challenge: combining the Kaioken technique with the power of Super Saiyan Blue. The result of this fusion is Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken.

Super Saiyan Rosé

Super Saiyan Rosé is a unique and amazing transformation introduced in Dragon Ball Super (one of my personal favorites). This form is achieved exclusively by Goku Black.

Super Saiyan Rosé represents the power of a divine Saiyan. The plot reveals that Goku Black has taken over the deity Zamasu to enhance his own powers. Combining the divine energy with the Saiyajin abilities creates Super Saiyan Rosé, a form that offers unprecedented strength and speed.

In addition, Super Saiyan Rosé is believed to stand for a higher spiritual and energetic purity than other Super Saiyajin forms.

Perfected Super Saiyan Blue

Perfected Super Saiyan Blue is an advanced form of the Super Saiyan Blue transformation, which occurs exclusively in the Dragon Ball Super manga. Goku achieved this form during training with Whis. In the manga, the Perfected Super Saiyan Blue is first used by Goku against Fused Zamasu. Visually, the only difference from the normal Super Saiyan Blue is that the aura is missing.

By sealing the aura inside, Goku found the full potential of Super Saiyan Blue. The Perfected Super Saiyan Blue is thus far superior to the normal Super Saiyan Blue. Nevertheless, one can only use the full potential briefly before the power level falls due to the high physical demands.

Since you must be very in tune with yourself and generally “calm,” this form has not been for Vegeta. He has, therefore, “developed” the Super Saiyan God SS Evolved, which I will discuss below.

Super Saiyan God SS Evolved, also known as Blue Evolved in the manga

Super Saiyan God SS Evolved is an advanced version of the Super Saiyan Blue transformation in Dragon Ball Super. Vegeta achieves this form.

Super Saiyan God SS Evolved is first introduced during the battle between Vegeta and Toppo in the Tournament of Power. In this form, Vegeta reaches an even higher level of power, surpassing the original Super Saiyan Blue transformation.

Super Saiyan God SS Evolved visually resembles Super Saiyan Blue, but there are some differences. Vegeta’s hair retains its blue color but becomes more pointed and stands upright. An intense blue aura that enhances his powers and creates an imposing appearance surrounds his body – The exact opposite of Goku’s Perfected Super Saiyan Blue.

Super Saiyan God SS Evolved is even more, energy efficient than the original Super Saiyan Blue transformation. Vegeta can maintain the form longer and is less vulnerable to exhaustion or energy loss.

The importance of Super Saiyan God SS Evolved lies not only in its increased fighting power but also in Vegeta’s personal development as a fighter. The transformation symbolizes his constant drive for strength and desire to improve his skills. It also shows his determination to surpass himself and reach new limits.

Ultra Instinct

Ultra Instinct - Dragon Ball Super Quiz

Ultra Instinct is a groundbreaking and powerful transformation introduced in Dragon Ball Super. This form is considered the highest state of martial arts and gives the user incredible reflexes, speed, and strength.

Ultra Instinct is achieved through intense training and mastery of mind and body. It is a technique in which the fighter lets his mind go blank, and his body acts instinctively, without thinking about the actions. The fighter’s mind and body become one, allowing him to execute every move precisely and efficiently.

The transformation to Ultra Instinct comes with several visual changes. The fighter’s body becomes surrounded by a divine glow, his eyes turn silver, and his hair takes on a brilliant white color.

The benefits of Ultra Instinct are many. The fighter who has attained this form can dodge attacks effortlessly while executing powerful and precise counter-attacks. The fighter’s reflexes and reaction times are extraordinary, allowing him to anticipate and counter-attacks before they even occur.

However, Ultra Instinct is a challenging transformation to achieve. Even for powerful fighters like Goku, it takes years of hard training and extreme focus to even get a taste of the Ultra Instinct state. Most characters have difficulty fully mastering it and must rely on brief moments of Ultra Instinct to prevail in battle.

I will not go into each “level” of Ultra Instinct here. I may do a separate article on this topic since it is pretty broad.

Ultra Ego

Ultra Ego - Dragon Ball Super Quiz

Ultra Ego is a transformation of Vegeta that occurs exclusively in the manga. According to Vegeta, this form was taught to him by Beerus and derived solely from instinct. Beerus told Vegeta that Gods of Destruction have different abilities because abilities like Ultra Instinct would not fit them, but rather angels, like Whis.

Beerus saw the similarity between him and Vegeta because Vegeta was also a destroyer. He conquered planets, wiped out inhabitants, and even destroyed planets. The only difference was that Vegeta felt bad about his actions. During the Buu saga, he had already asked Piccolo if he could see Kakarrot in the afterlife.

So, he was aware that he was going to hell. This is also brought up occasionally as the story goes on, whether it’s in the movie Dragon Ball Super: Broly, where he’s reminded of what his father did to Broly and his dad. Or during the Moro Saga, where Vegeta tells Moro that he knows he’s going to hell and has been preparing for it for quite some time.

These feelings of guilt prevent him from gaining the powers of a God of Destruction, according to Beerus. Destruction does not necessarily mean evil. According to him, by destroying, Gods like Beerus’ reign order in the universes.

When Vegeta meets Granolah, the only survivor of the Cerealian race that the Saiyans annihilated, he faces his past and guilt. The result is the Ultra Ego transformation. He implements what Beerus told him, shows no compassion anymore, and speaks like someone proud of his past and “achievements” – hence probably the name “Ultra Ego.”

We all know that Vegeta has always had one hell of an ego. As the prince of the Saiyans, he always saw himself as something better than others. Goku first shattered this ego by defeating Vegeta and even leaving him alive!

As mentioned above, Vegeta has great guilt because of his actions and sees himself as a villain. Even when Beerus says he isn’t a villain, it is difficult to believe this in front of Granolah, who lost everything and every one to his own race, the Saiyans. Therefore, he could not maintain the Ulta Ego form; “How can I take pride in destroying something when the personified sorrow of destruction stands in front of me?!”

Through an audio file from Bardock, Vegeta realized what he was really proud of. Not of the sins of the Saiyans but of the Saiyans themselves. Their morale, strength, and conviction. Through this realization, Vegeta could be proud of himself again, build up his ego, and regain the Ultra Ego form.

You can say that Ultra Ego is the exact opposite of Ultra Instinct. Instead of dodging attacks, he absorbs them, and taking damage makes him stronger. Still, the attacks he absorbs damage him. But as long as he doesn’t get knocked out, he just gets stronger. So, in short, it’s a “stamina game” with the opponent – who can take and deal more and who goes down first.
