What is really ‘kinky’?
What is ‘really’ kinky depends on how we see the world. For some of us, a sexual preference is ‘quite normal’; for the next one, it is ‘weird,’ and for the third one, ‘disgusting.’
Researchers wanted to know this some time ago and asked people about their secret ‘kinks,’ meaning not acting them out. The result was absolutely amazing and, for many, ‘outrageous.’ Oral sex of both varieties was secretly longed for by more than 70 percent of women and men, and sexual dominance or submission played a crucial role for more than 50 percent of respondents – again, well distributed across women and men.
So what’s so disgraceful about it? Strictly speaking, nothing at all. What more than 50 percent of people secretly desire and is not expressly forbidden cannot be ‘sick.’
Growing acceptance: ‘Kinky’ relationships through the ages
The word ‘kink’ originates not in the youth language of the 21st century but as far back as the 1670s.
In the sense of ‘whim, strange notion, mental contortion,’ the word was first used in 1803 in the records of Thomas Jefferson. The current perverse meaning has existed since the 1970s.
In recent years, there has been an openness to the term. People are becoming more open to previously taboo subjects. BDSM practices or other fetishes have long ceased to be taboos that cause great excitement.
The term ‘kinky’ is relatively new in connection with a DDLG relationship. DDLG stands for ‘Daddy Dom and Little Girl.’ This refers to a type of relationship in which a fatherly, caring man and a childlike woman are together. The man is addressed as a father by the submissive, girlish woman and is treated as such.
Most ‘kinks’ are secret – and remain so
If we want to make an authoritative statement, we have to ask the people who are comfortable with their secret lusts whether they are acted out or not. You see – and this is exactly what we cannot do at all because feeling a secret lust does not yet mean ‘accepting’ it, and accepting it does not yet mean secretly using it for pleasure. And even this does not mean at all to ever want to exercise it in real life.
11 Kinks you probably haven’t known before
Dendrophilia – Let’s start with trees: Sexual arousal through trees is also called dendrophilia. Dendrophiles get hot just by looking at the tall forest plants and often include the tree in their love play. But branch holes are also quite tempting!
Catoptronophilia – Ever walked past a mirror and been instantly aroused? Then you might have catoptronophilia. People with this fetish get turned on when they strip, have sex, or masturbate in front of a mirror.
Somnophilia – Many of us like to watch loved ones sleep. However, those who are sexually aroused by this have the fetish somnophilia. The only question is how to live out the resulting desire without waking up the partner.
Climacophilia – One of the craziest fetishes I’ve come across: People with climacophilia find it arousing when they fall down the stairs. I wonder how they incorporate that into sex?
Adult Baby Fetishes – Sex with a diaper, being fed like a baby by your partner, or lactophilia (preference for breast milk) – there are quite a few fetishes where the adult becomes a baby for lovemaking.
Claustrophilia – While some people even fear tight spaces, others feel exceptionally comfortable in them. Those who like to have sex in small spaces have the fetish claustrophilia.
Coprophilia – Watch out; it’s getting nasty! Coprophiles get off on human feces. The sex practice is also called ‘scat.’
Dacryphilia – Many men are uncomfortable when someone cries in front of them. Not so those with the fetish dacryphilia. They find it sexually arousing to watch others cry.
Knismolagnia – Many couples like to tease and tickle each other in bed together. However, if you reach a sexual climax just by tickling, you have the fetish Knismolagnia. At least this sex act is associated with a hearty laugh!
Hybristophilia – You like bad boys? Then this could already be a mild form of hybristophilia. People with this fetish are into criminals and prisoners. The ‘conjugal visit’ should not only benefit the prison inmate, if you know what I mean 😉
Formicophilia – Now, this is a weird one. Some people are into insects crawling on their bodies and over their genitals. Biting, peeing, and the resulting stinging expressly desired!
